Looking to do more than draft and review contracts?

Henchman is a solution that facilitates the drafting and reviewing of contracts within applications like Word or Outlook.

The tool makes it simpler for legal teams to share clauses between documents, search existing clauses, and review contracts in minutes. Like Juro, Henchman is equipped with AI that can help revise and refine clauses, although it’s unclear if this tool sets guardrails for your drafting like Juro.

However, Henchman isn’t an all-in-one contract management solution. The solution is focused on contract clauses, reviewing, and redlining but it’s limited when it comes to other aspects of the contract lifecycle. This means users will need to move between different tools to fill in these gaps and agree a contract.

This page will dive into these limitations in more detail, comparing them to Juro’s all-in-one intelligent contract automation platform. Read on to discover more about Henchman’s features, limitations and pricing.

Henchman Limitations

1. Narrow scope

The largest limitation of Henchman is its limited scope. It’s a solution designed for specific elements of the contract lifecycle, meaning users will ultimately still have to use a mix of tools (like an eSignature provider) to get a contract agreed.

This means that collaborating using the tool is not an option - users need to export a redlined version of the contract and negotiate offline. This can cause issues, particularly for complex contracts that require heavy negotiation

Although this makes it simpler for users to draft contracts, it’s not suitable for the rest of the contract workflow. This means users can’t review, sign queries, or store contracts, making it rather narrow in scope.  An all-in-one tool like Juro can do all this on top of drafting capabilities that include AI, just like Henchman.

2. Add-on to a document management system

Currently, Henchman only exists as an add-on/integration for your existing document management system, this could be SharePoint or Google Drive for example. This makes the platform fairly siloed, as users can only access it in the exact system they integrate with.

As a result, users cannot collaborate using Henchman, as it sits in an individual workspace. This means any changes users make in the drafting process will only be visible to them unless exported with comments.

In contrast, a collaborative contract management tool like Juro allows you to run redlines natively, meaning you comment and suggest while staying in control of both internal and external versions. This collaborative approach to contracting enables stakeholders to make decisions faster, with minimal back and forth.

3. Limited integrations with other tools

In 2024, Henchman does not yet integrate with other business enablement platforms such as a CRM tool. This means that users can’t create contracts or pull data from their CRM to create a contract.

An all-in-one tool like Juro prioritizes integrations with CRMs like Salesforce and HubSpot, allowing commercial teams to generate contracts from within their chosen CRM. Juro users can create a contract from the relevant record in the CRM in just a few clicks, with all of the data from the opportunity automatically pulled into the contract template in Juro.

In contrast, as Henchman focuses more on the drafting process users will have to draft a contract using the tool and later populate the contracts in their CRM, adding time and additional steps to this process.

How does Juro compare?

All-in-one contract management

Although Henchman’s clause-searching ability is admirable, Juro looks beyond just this element of the contract lifecycle. Juro automates the contract workflow end-to-end, enabling you to create, negotiate, sign, manage, track, and renew contracts in a single browser native workspace.

Meanwhile, Henchman users will need to do all this work in separate platforms, which can create friction. Additionally, juggling documents across Word, PDF, and shared drives can add more room for confusion and errors. A tool like Juro replaces all these elements, centralizing your contracts.

From template creation to signing, you can have full visibility over the contracts being signed by your organization. The legal team can stay in control by owning these self-serve templates and making fast and reliable edits at any time.

Legal AI assistant

Juro also offers an intelligent solution to automating contract drafting, AI Assistant. Users can request AI to draft full contracts or individual clauses in mere seconds based on information provided by guardrails.

AI Assistant doesn’t just handle contract drafting, it can also be used in the contract review and analysis process. It can be used to summarize key clauses, detect deviations from standard contract terms, and identify risk. Not to mention ‘shortcuts’ which show users pre-engineered prompts in seconds.

This function means that you can agree contracts up to ten times faster than traditional tools, you can find out more about AI Assistant here.

Collaborative contract review

Contracts are rarely simple and more often than not, you need to have the flexibility to create, review, edit, and approve contracts in one place.

Using Juro, parties can collaborate on a single version of a contract in a browser, you can tag team members, hide internal comments from external parties, and control which edits are visible to your counterparty. This empowers legal and business teams to comment and collaborate on contracts securely in one workspace.

Built-in contract editor

Juro’s native editor makes it quick and easy to create, edit, and amend contracts, as well as add rich media to legal agreements. Though this is likely possible using the document management system that hosts Henchman, it’s neither built-in nor guaranteed.

A rich-text editor also allows you to take advantage of features like automated templates, conditional logic, and sidebar collaboration to help you close deals faster. Commercial teams can automate contracts directly within other business tools, including Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Salesforce, a feature missing entirely from Henchman’s offering.

Henchman pricing

Henchman does not provide any information on its pricing, but does show three packages available:

  • Henchman Base Package
  • AI Clause Assistant (add-on)
  • Dynamic Knowledge management (add-on)

The first seems to be a standard offering of the platform, while the second two options are advertised as ‘Add-ons’.

As Henchman isn't an end-to-end solution for contract management, those looking to automate the entire workflow may find themselves paying for additional licenses and tools such as a separate eSignature solution.

Juro pricing

For those looking to limit their spending on sporadic tools, an all-in-one solution with flexible plans like Juro could be a sensible option. Juro's plans are designed to suit businesses of all sizes and all include unlimited users and templates, as well as our core functionality.

Henchman reviews

Henchamn is a fairly new tool on the market, so it only had 14 reviews on independent review sites like G2 and none on Capterra. On G2, the platform is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars, compared to Juro’s 4.7 stars from 80 reviews.

We receive a lot of contracts in PDF-format, here we cannot make use of Henchman - independent review, G2

The platform does not yet have enough reviews for users to gain specific insight into feature ratings, like Juro’s 9.8 rating for quality of support. This means that these reviews are fairly limited and may not reflect the changing nature of the product.
